Earth and Climate Sciences at ETH Zurich

The Department of Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich currently has about 450 students studying for their bachelor’s or master’s degree or for their doctorate. At the very least, all third-year students who opt for the geophysics specialisation after completing their basic studies attend lectures and courses taught by SED staff, where they learn about seismological theories and methods.

Watch the video to find out which topics the various Department of Earth Sciences research groups are currently investigating.

Alternatively, test your knowledge by answering some typical exam questions from the basic BSc course on geophysics to find out whether you have what it takes to become an earth scientist and ultimately a seismologist.

But the earth science course at ETH Zurich is not all about exams: students also go on numerous excursions and field courses in Switzerland and abroad.
