As part of the seismo@school programme in Switzerland, HES-SO Valais-Wallis has developed a simple, homemade seismometer. With this device, it is easy to understand how a seismometer works in a hands-on way.
The model can be assembled in a short time and used directly in the classroom. It is also an excellent class project – for example, pupils can improve individual parts or adapt the data acquisition system (Arduino) in computer science lessons.

If you would like to build the seismometer yourself:
The parts can be produced with a 3D printer.
