Seismic Hazard Harmonization in Europe (SHARE)
SHARE is a Collaborative Project in the Cooperation programmee of the Seventh Framework Programmee of the European Commission. The main objective of SHARE is to
provide an updated, living seismic hazard model for the
Euro-Meditarrenean region. The project aims to establish new standards
in Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA) practice by a close
cooperation of leading European seismologists and engineers. SHARE will establish a portal as single access point to the project based on open-source and open access philosophy and technology.
SHARE started in June 2009 and will end June 2012. The total budget received from EC is 3.2M Euro distributed over 18 partner institutions. SHARE is coordinated by the Swiss Seismological Service and ETH Zurich where the project office is located, responsible for the daily management of the project. Prof. D. Giardini, is the coordinator of SHARE, Dr. Jochen Woessner is the project manager.
SHARE is one of the Regional Programmees of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) providing essential input and feedback on hazard data and standards in Europe. SHARE and GEM are also working together in the development of a computational infrastructure for open-source hazard assessment.
