Site Survey

The site and code of the CTBT-station AS102 (Davos) was modified previously from DAVOS to DAVON and because the latter site will be used for other purposes than seismic monitoring, a new site has been sought by the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) at the ETH Zurich, which acts as National Data Center (NDC).

Several sites in the proximity of the treaty coordinates of this station were examined. Noise measurements were made for at least one week at six of the examined sites (Dischmatal - Inner Hof, Küblis, Stillberg, Strelapass, Sapüntal - Eggen, Dischmatal - Lucksch Alp). For the three most promising sites the measurements lasted several months and the data was sent continuously to the NDC. The site Dischmatal - Lucksch Alp fulfilled the requirements.
