Dr. Arnaud Mignan joined the earthquake statistics group of the SED in March 2010 as a Senior Researcher. He earned his PhD in Geophysics at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris in France in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, he worked at Risk Management Solutions (RMS), the world’s leading provider of products and services for catastrophe risk management. In 2009, he became Senior Catastrophe Risk Modeler in the Model Development and Capital Market Support Teams of RMS. He is an expert in earthquake predictability (including aspects of earthquake physics, geodesy, statistics and data quality control) and in risk management (including extreme events and multi-risk assessment). He is a renowned specialist of the accelerating seismic release model for earthquake prediction. He leads since 2010 a work package in the EU FP7 MATRIX project (New Multi-Hazard and Multi-Risk Assessment Methods for Europe) and is a principal investigator in the CSEP-China project (Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability). Since 2006, he has authored and co-authored 15 publications of which two book chapters and an invited review paper.
