Brigerbad Network
The Brigerbad network is operated under a contract with Geothermie Brigerbad AG. The purpose of the network is to monitor induced seismicity related to the extraction of hot thermal waters from 400-600 m deep boreholes in Brigerbad, VS.
Network
The Brigerbad network consists of a single station installed at the surface. The station is installed on the property of the hot springs Brigerbad at a distance of 200 m to the boreholes (Figure 1). The station is operating since November 2009.
The station is equipped with a strong motion sensor (Kinemetrics EpiSensor) and a Nanometrics Taurus digitizer. Data are are streamed in real-time via ADSL to the SED data center in Zurich. Data are merged with data of permanently installed stations to allow for real-time detection and location of possible earthquakes. A map showing the location of the station is shown below. Photos of the installation can be found on the right.

Earthquake Activity
Up to now, no earthquakes have been recorded that could be associated with the extraction of hot water from the wells.
