SSMNet Renewal Status

In the first phase of the project (2009-2012), 30 stations will be installed. In this phase, the 5 largest cities as well as 20 stations in regions of highest risk will be brought to the most up-to-date standards. In the cities, the risk aspect will be also accounted for.

Historical epicentral regions: Visp (1855), Brig (1755), Sion-Sierre (1946), Aigle (1584), Yverdon (1929), Sarnen (1964), Altdorf (1774), Glarus (1971), St. Galler Rheintal (1796), Churwalden/Obervaz (1295/1991), Basel (1356) and others.

Explanation to the table:

  • Project Code: Site number from 1 to 30 (N: new site, E: Replacement of an existing station)
  • H/V: H/V measurement in order to estimate the resonance frequency of the site (Step 1 of the site characterization)
  • Vs: Measurement of the velocity profile under the station performed; S: active seismic, A: Ambient vibration array, G: geotechnical investigations (Step 2 of the site characterization)
  • Planned: planned measurements, seismic (S: active seismic, A: Ambient vibrations) and geotechnical investigations (G) (Step 2 to 3 of the site characterization)
