About us
The Seismic Networks group at the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) is responsible for the Swiss National Seismic Networks (known collectively as CHNet, which includes both the broadband/short period SDSNet and the strong motion SSMNet). We work in collaboration with the Elab, who install new stations and maintain the field and communications infrastructure. The main tasks of the Seismic Network are the processing of seismic waveform data; detection and quantification of earthquakes; earthquake catalogue generation; alerting of earthquakes for scientists, authorities, media and the public; as well as the permanent archival and dissemination of data. We focus on developing and using novel software techniques relevant to the Seismic Network. These web pages introduce our group and provide an overview of the Seismic Network infrastructure, derived products, and group research.
