My research interests extend more and more from energy conversion technologies in the sustainable energy sector and experimental work on induced seismicity towards software and sensor development in seismology.
Currently, my work includes: Hard- and software development for high frequency data acquisition units, advanced analysis of seismicity in small-scale hydraulic stimulation experiments and in pilot-scale deep geothermal energy projects, as well as accelerometer development.

2020 – present: Postdoc at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and the Swiss Seismological Service

  • Developing software/hardware for processing and recording of highly sampled picoseismic data in the field of hydraulic stimulation for deep geothermal reservoirs
  • Team leader of research projects and supervision of student projects (master-level)

2016 – 2020: Doctoral studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and the Swiss Seismological Service, Zurich, Switzerland

  • Doctoral thesis: Complexity, heterogeneity and scalability of injection induced seismicity from decameter-scale stimulation experiments

2013 – 2015: Nordic Master in Innovative Sustainable Energy Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg, Sweden) and the University of Iceland

  • Specialization in geothermal energy
  • Master’s Thesis: “Experimental investigation of induced seismicity in granitic rock on a centimeter scale” (associated with Enhanced Geothermal Systems)

2008 – 2011: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland

  • Specialization in energy management at the Institute of Thermal and Fluid Engineering
  • Bachelor Thesis: “Gas turbine combustion with external exhaust gas recirculation”
